Engagement Series

I haven't posted anything in a while and have been looking at other options to share my work.  I really need to focus on one or two only but first figure out which work best for me.

I'm trying out a new painting technique. The two people are me and my fiance. I'm really happy with the results. I am really excited to utilize this technique to expand my more fantastical and fun paintings. Look for more soon!

~30 Minute Figure Sketches

Here are a couple of 30 minute sketches I did later last week.  I've been enjoying practicing my figure work and I've found a few great resources online that scroll through random pictures based on a few setting for subject matter and time between changes.

Light and Color Fun

I was playing around with color and lighting and love painting landscapes.  This is what I came up with.  I like how the subtle color changes turned out throughout the mountains.  I also wanted to throw a figure in there, I usually don't get around do doing that, but I've been really meaning to do that more.  Get some more interesting poses and dynamic movement incorporated with the scenes.

Disturbed Entertainment

Here is another blast from the past.  This was one of my first fully completed digital paintings done in Photoshop without any reference.  I think this painting has been instrumental in helping to show my style, although, over the years, it definitely has changed.

Self Portrait: 2012

I've created a self portrait of myself, something I haven't done since my freshman year of college.  I created it mainly because I needed a more artistic profile picture that speaks more of my artwork rather than just a photograph.  I had fun with it, though, and I think the sum of all the parts turned out nicely.

Water Drop

Here's an oldie.  I painted this as a fun portfolio piece, focusing on achieving nice realistic water reflections.

Idiocracy Concepts and Matte Paintings

A few years ago I worked with a small post production company called Stargate Digital.  My main purpose, while I was there, was to be the 3D artist in the Matte Painting department. Eventually my Photoshop and other artistic skills stood out and I was tasked to create these concept paintings and matte paintings for the film Idiocracy.  This was my first eye opening experience in the entertainment/post production industry.

Piranha Purgatory Character Concepts

This is a series of character concepts I created for an old job designing cellphone games.  This idea was for a game called Piranha Purgatory where you'd swim around as a ghost piranha scaring other fish to increase your score.

Mushroom Sitter - WIP

Mushroom Sitter WIP
This is a digital painting I've been working on just for fun so the time spent on it has also been very casual.  Here are a few of the steps that I've gone through to get it to where it is now.  You can see how it transformed from the original sketch, but I'm going to put the character back in somewhere plus throw something in the foreground.  We'll see when I get around to finishing it.
